Well, since I got a broken foot and all and am stuck at home decided to work on the Z. Had a exhaust side valve cover leak and had a set of extra chromed valve covers so I decided to do a little work on the engine even though it will only be in the car for another 3 months at most. Anywho...pulled the plenum and everything else and decide it's a great time to change the thermostat that I figured was giving me overheating issues. The guy I bought it from said he worked on the thermostat before he handed it over to me so it couldn't have been that...yeah right! I pull the water pipes and THERE IS NO THERMOSTAT in the thermostat housing. I decided to check the radiator as well for any leaks...broken plastic neck on the radiator...only goes a little less than 3/4 of an inch from the radiator.......WEAKSAUCE! Also, I pull the timing covers off to just check the timing as well....it's perfectly off by around 9 teeth...and timing is set at 15 degrees on the dot....apparently the mechanic did it a long time ago "to get some extra juice out of the engine". SO.....I am glad I finally took some time to just screw with the engine. At least this way I am running problem free for a few months and the buyer of my used engine at least gets a good engine.
